Our semester started off with our participation in events like Late Night, Mosaic Mixer, and Mosaic Asian Night to spread awareness about KPhiG on campus. We got to meet many new people on campus and spent time with other organizations that are a part of the Coalition of Asian Students and the United Greek Council.

We also hosted our Phamily Day over Family weekend. The families of our sorors came to join in on the fun at a picnic in Cameron Park here in Waco.

We’ve had a busy semester with successful fundraisers! Our goal is to raise money for KPhiG’s national philanthropy, Cancer Awareness. For the founding members of KPhiG, cancer was something they all had a connection to, and we hope to uphold the energy they put into spreading awareness by making it one of our priorities to emphasize its importance. At our fundraising events, we displayed a trifold with information about cancer and sold many stickers our sisters designed, including one with a lavender ribbon to show support for cancer patients and survivors. Whether it was getting pied in the face to raise money during KPieG, selling sweets during our Phinest Treats bake sale, or selling fidget toys during Stress-Free with KPhiG to help lower anxiety before finals week, we’re always thinking about ways we can raise money to give back to the community. One of our favorite events was Phinest Pups, a collaboration with The Humane Society that allowed us to bring puppies to Fountain Mall! Click this link to read all about it in The Lariat! At the end of the school year, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to charities that support Cancer Awareness.

The sisterhood also has a strong emphasis on service. We volunteered with the sisters of aKDPhi at Hidden Treasures: Caritas, a thrift store, to help sort through bins of items and clothes. Our most recent service event was through our national Be The Change initiative, in which we chose to work with Friends for Life, a center providing resources to seniors in the Waco area, to put together birthday gifts for 17 seniors whose birthdays are in December. Sisters designed highly personalized birthday cards for each one, as well as bags with highly requested items such as activity books, lotion, and blankets.

The sisters also prioritized bonding with each other! Sisterhood is one of KPhiG’s core principles and we love spending time with each other and getting closer. For the sisters of Kappa Phi Gamma, KPhiG is like a family. We organized events like our Putters Take-a-Date, A DIY tote bag mixer with the sisters of KDChi, and a celebration of our semester at our Semi-Formal. We also had some of our own Gamma Chapter Alumni join in on the bonding.

One of our lovely sisters, Ritika Gupta, graduated this semester. Ritika has been a part of KPhiG since the Fall of 2020. Her participation in our organization has helped it flourish and become the organization it is today. We celebrate her hard work and dedication to her goals and wish her lots of luck as she steps into the next phase of her life.
